what we do:

We commission, dramaturg and produce new plays for staging in theatres and non-theatres. Each project is created through partnerships and often inspired by gathered stories. The work is toured locally, nationally and internationally. Most performances are followed by facilitated discussion. We are committed to maximising engagement. Our intention is to provoke informed debate and inspire positive social change. The work falls under several headings:

Legacy of Conflict

Assisting communities grapple with the impact of conflict. They vary from full-length to shorter pop-up dramas and are the result of collaborating with community-based umbrella organisations; previous partners include Diversity Challenges, the Trauma Recovery Network, Relatives for Justice and Healing Through Remembering. There is often academic engagement from research to analysis of impact to archive. This work is revived in response to need. Project examples include Reunion, Green & Blue; A Queer Céilí at the Marty Forsythe, Those You Pass on the Street and 20

Animating Heritage

Work inspired by built heritage, often commemorating key moments within our histories.  Production style is informed by both location and subject matter.  The aim is to humanise local landmarks and their residents, offer communities a new way to engage with the past, and assist us to imagine new possibilities for contested sites. These projects often have a participatory element and tend to be promenade, examples include: Mary-Ann, a forgotten sister, Belfast by Moonlight; No News is Good News; Mabel and 1 in 5

championing human rights

Bearing witness to stories of unheard activists to provoke animated discussion about the type of society we all want to be part of. The aim is to promote active citizenship. These commissions evolve out of engagement with the changemakers in question. Project examples include Callings; Suspect Device; Silent Trade; Lives in Translation and Not on Our Watch

Cultural Tourism

Animating local stories for citizens and visitors alike, these unique theatrical tours encourage audiences to look at their surroundings with fresh eyes. They are created in collaboration with a range of stakeholders and are produced for ongoing revival.  Extracts are often revived for events and conferences. Project examples include: A Bellaghy Tale; Belfast Bred; Two Roads West; Shankill Stories; and Quartered: Belfast, a love story

Bespoke

Specifically created for a single client to address an issue of concern, highlight a new initiative, or provide animation for an event. Project examples include Titans; Laser Lunacy; Titanica; Be Our Guest and 60 seconds

Participatory Projects

Every now and again we work with an organisation, a funder or a partner towards a specific goal. Taking the arts into spaces and working with people to create experiences that have an impact on communities and individuals. Project examples include Sightlines, The Occasional Gardener, From Oriel to Brexit (Young People workshops), Human Chain, 1916 – Our History Our Future
