Edith and Constance is an imagined meeting between two of the women’s movement most powerful figures:
Countess Constance Markievicz and Lady Edith Londonderry
Developed in partnership with the Nerve Centre, Derry, as part of the Creative Centenaries project Edith & Constance premiered as a Schools Tour to Lagan College, Ashfield Girl’s High School, Methodist College, St Malachy’s, Foyle College, Lisneal College, Thornhill and St Columb’s.
Written by Vittoria Cafolla, the piece explores the politics of the two seminal figures of Edith & Constance and their influence on the world around them. The piece is designed to complement a series of historical comics produced by the Nerve Centre exploring vital figures in Ireland surrounding the events and aftermath of the 1916 Rising.
