Memories of the city centre security cordon and regular civilian searches are one of the few universally shared experiences of life in Belfast during the seventies and eighties.
In partnership with Belfast Stories, Kabosh invites you to tour the site of the former Ring of Steel in a theatrical walking tour based on memories collected from over one-thousand of Belfast’s citizens.
The scars of a military structure used in civic circumstances are embedded in the physical and emotional fabric of our city. Revisiting The Ring of Steel explores both the traces of the barricades still hidden in plain sight, and the intangible legacy of the security cordon’s impact on our collective history.
- The tour will cover 2.2 miles and last approximately 90-minutes.
- Please wear comfy shoes and dress for the weather.
Please note that the tour route is not fully accessible.
