Elizabeth ….. Almost By Chance a Woman
By Dario Fo, Irish Premiere Old Museum Arts Centre, Belfast September 2004
“fine production values and assured performances”
IRISH TIMES
Elizabeth, an hilarious and impious jab at the English Monarchy set in the Court of the first Queen of England, chronicles how the virgin queen overcame the treacherous uprising against her. A little performed satire on power and paranoia – Fo’s monarch is more interested in who she is going to sleep with next than ruling the country whilst being certain than Shakespeare is plotting against her.
“an engaging and mind-blowing experience that will change the way you look at history”
