Developed in partnership with the Nerve Centre, Derry, as part of the Creative Centenaries project, Edith and Constance is an imagined meeting between two of the women’s movement most powerful figures: Countess Constance Markievicz and Lady Edith Londonderry.

Written by Vittoria Cafolla, the piece explores the politics of these two seminal figures and their influence on the world around them. The piece is designed to complement a series of historical comics produced by the Nerve Centre exploring vital figures in Ireland surrounding the events and aftermath of the 1916 Rising.

The production initially toured to a number of secondary schools across Belfast and Derry and has been remounted several times for events and functions.

Edith and Constance is part of an ongoing project, Road to Equality, that will explore the lives and influence of those involved in the suffrage movement in Ireland.
